Koch Chemie TexLock is the long-lasting fabric and textile protectant from the Koch Chemie The Finisher line, engineered to shield car interior upholstery, headliners, carpet and fabric trim against spills, stains, dye transfer from clothing and UV fading. Developed in the Koch Chemie laboratories in Unna, Germany, TexLock forms an invisible breathable barrier that repels liquid contamination on contact, giving you precious seconds to wipe before a spill becomes a permanent stain.
Where untreated fabric absorbs coffee, soda and food spills directly into the fibers, TexLock causes liquids to bead and sit on the surface long enough to blot away cleanly. The German formulation does not stiffen the fabric or change its texture, but adds protection that lasts months between applications. Apply after LeatherTexClean for a complete fabric care workflow: clean first with LeatherTexClean, protect after with TexLock.
Pro tip: apply TexLock every 3 to 4 months on daily-driven vehicles to maintain hydrophobic performance. For garage-kept weekend cars, every 6 months is sufficient. Re-application is faster than the first treatment because the previous coats build cumulative protection.
Important: never apply TexLock to fabric that still has cleaner residue or moisture. The protective layer needs a clean dry surface to bond properly. Wait until the fabric is completely dry before application.
Why does fabric upholstery need a protectant?
Untreated automotive fabric absorbs spills, oils and dye transfer directly into the fiber structure, creating stains that are difficult or impossible to fully remove. TexLock creates a hydrophobic surface barrier that causes liquids to bead instead of soak, buying critical seconds to blot away spills before they penetrate. Over the lifetime of a vehicle, regular fabric protection dramatically reduces stain accumulation.
Will TexLock stiffen my fabric or change its texture?
No. The breathable formulation absorbs into the fiber structure without coating the surface. The fabric retains its natural softness, breathability and visual character. The only noticeable change is improved liquid resistance.
Can I use TexLock on Alcantara?
Yes. TexLock is safe on Alcantara and microsuede. Apply lightly with multiple thin coats rather than one heavy application. After drying, brush the Alcantara nap gently with a soft brush to restore the natural texture.
What is the difference between TexLock and LeatherLock?
TexLock is for fabric and textile surfaces. LeatherLock is for leather and vinyl. Both create protective barriers but use chemistry tuned for the very different surfaces of fabric versus leather. Use TexLock on upholstery fabric, headliner and carpet. Use LeatherLock on leather seats and vinyl door panels.
Should I apply TexLock to brand-new fabric upholstery?
Yes. New fabric is the ideal time to apply protection because the fibers are clean and unstained. Treating new upholstery with TexLock before any spills accumulate provides the longest possible protective benefit.
Where is TexLock made?
Koch Chemie TexLock is formulated and bottled in Germany by Koch Chemie GmbH at their headquarters in Unna. The Rag Company Europe is an authorised dealer of the Koch Chemie The Finisher line for Europe.
