Description:
Sufian Stevens, the SSW prodigy, has joined forces with Nico Murie, a leading piano music writer of post-minimal music favored by Bjork and Philip Glass, Bryce Dessner, the guitarist who is the brain behind The National, and James McAllister, Sufian's longtime partner and drummer/producer, to form the quartet Planetarium, a project released worldwide on 4AD! Planetarium" is a quartet project with drummer/producer James McAllister, who has been Sufian's partner for many years, and is now being released simultaneously worldwide on 4AD! The framework of Muiry's song cycle, Desner's genre-defying guitar, and McAllister's drums, percussion, and electronic sequences are added to the beat, and the lyrics are based on mythology, astrology, and the stars and heavenly bodies in the night sky. The lyrics evolved into grandiose concepts reflecting mythology, astrology, and the ancient belief that the stars and celestial bodies in the night sky represent gods, heroes, monsters, and so on.This work, completed as a musical adventure that transitions from one planet to another, from one style to another, encompasses everything from mid-'00s Sufian works to new US indie sentiment, from post-minimal chamber symphonies to slowcore/drone to atypical electronica. The album is a culmination of an album-like art form that has traveled from Neptune, through the sun, black holes, and numerous planets, to Earth, and then back to Mercury again. The whole picture is finally revealed!
