Description:
The art of Ryan Carter, an up-and-coming American composer of contemporary music. Ryan Carter (1980-) is an up-and-coming American contemporary music composer who studied with Louis Andreesen and Hilius van Berghuijk at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, the Netherlands, and further studies at the Computer Music Center at Columbia University. Carter's musical imagination is marked by a sensitivity to the sound world of electronics, even when composing for acoustic instruments. On his first album (0015048KAI), the influence of technology appeared as a kind of hindrance or challenge, but on this album he captures the theme of technology in a spirit of sublimation and resolution. It is a thought-provoking piece about the continuity between the digital mechanisms that permeate our daily lives and the older, more musical technologies that make up these works. Tokyo M-Plus
