The Chase Tactical SA3920 is a NIJ Listed Level IIIA soft armor panel, certified compliant under NIJ Standard 0101.06 and listed on the NIJ Compliant Products List. Built from a unique matrix of advanced PEUD Dyneema and patented woven aramid, the SA3920 provides stand-alone handgun protection in a panel that measures just 0.1595 inches thick with an areal density of 0.86 psf (4.198 kg/sqm). Available in an extensive range of configurations — from 10x12 plate backers in Shooter Cut, Full Cut, and Advanced Swimmer Cut to SAPI sizes XS through XL, BALCS/SPEAR sets from XSmall through 2XLarge, and a full array of cummerbund shapes — the SA3920 fits a wide spectrum of tactical and duty carriers. It also meets and exceeds both DEA and FBI ballistic requirements. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty on the product and a 5-year warranty on all ballistic material.
The SA3920 is rated Level IIIA Stand Alone, meaning it defeats handgun threats up to and including .44 Magnum and .357 SIG at NIJ 0101.06 test velocities without requiring a hard plate behind it. It is NIJ 0101.06 certified compliant and listed on the NIJ Compliant Products List. It also meets DEA and FBI ballistic standards. Like all Level IIIA soft armor, this panel does not stop rifle-caliber threats — a hard armor plate is required for rifle-level protection.
At 0.1595 inches thick and 0.86 psf areal density, the SA3920 sits close to the thinnest end of the Level IIIA spectrum. The PEUD Dyneema and woven aramid matrix keeps the panel flexible enough to conform to the body when worn as a standalone insert or seated behind a hard plate. The outer cover uses Sonobond construction with sealed water-resistant RipStop fabric, guarding the ballistic layers against moisture intrusion during extended field use. Multi-hit capability means a single strike does not forfeit the protection of the surrounding panel area.
The ballistic panel carries a 5-year warranty on all ballistic material; the exterior cover material and workmanship are covered for 1 year. Do not machine wash the ballistic layers. The sealed RipStop cover can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Store the panel flat or rolled loosely, away from prolonged heat, UV exposure, and chemical solvents. All sales are final due to the ballistic nature of the product; warranty and manufacturing defect claims are handled separately.
The SA3920 ships in more than 35 distinct configurations, covering every major plate backer geometry and a full cummerbund size run. The plate backer units pair directly with 10x12, 8x10, and SAPI-footprint hard plates across XS, S, M, L, and XL cuts. BALCS/SPEAR sets cover XSmall through 2XLarge for legacy military and law enforcement vests. Cummerbund shapes range from 5x7 up to 6x14 inches in half-inch width increments, accommodating the side-armor pockets of virtually any cummerbund-style carrier. If your carrier uses a non-standard pocket geometry, contact us to confirm the right configuration before ordering.
No shipments to Connecticut or New York due to state body armor restrictions. All other US states are eligible. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, anyone with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor. Export of body armor is subject to US export regulations.
It is NIJ Listed. The SA3920 has been certified compliant by NIJ under Standard 0101.06 and appears on the NIJ Compliant Products List. It is also listed under NIJ 0115.00. This is one of the highest verification tiers available under the current NIJ program.
No. Level IIIA soft armor is rated for handgun threats only. It does not stop rifle-caliber rounds such as 5.56x45 or 7.62x39. For rifle protection, pair this panel with a NIJ-rated hard armor plate in front of it — that is the intended use for the plate backer configurations.
Stand Alone means the panel meets NIJ Level IIIA threat requirements on its own, without a hard plate or additional backing layer behind it. This distinguishes it from "In Conjunction With" (ICW) panels, which require a hard plate to achieve their rated protection level. The SA3920 is rated Stand Alone.
Plate backer units are sized and cut to sit directly behind a hard plate in the main front or rear plate pocket of a carrier. Cummerbund configurations are shaped to fit the side soft-armor pockets of a cummerbund, adding Level IIIA coverage to the torso flanks. Sets include left and right panels; units are sold individually.
The ballistic material carries a 5-year warranty. Store the panel flat or rolled loosely in a cool, dry location away from heat, UV exposure, and solvents. Inspect periodically for delamination, moisture intrusion, or physical damage. If the panel has been struck by a projectile, retire it regardless of remaining warranty period.
