The exterior also features front and side webbing for independent mounting of a tourniquet or other first-priority tools. The pouch dimensions (1.25 × 6.87 × 6.5 in) keep it low-profile on the cummerbund at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions, clear of the pistol draw line and front-prone position.

Function

Deployment runs in three distinct stages. In its closed position, the exterior webbing and Velcro® patch panel provide immediate access to a tourniquet and a mounted Trauma Shear held by a dedicated retention strap. Pulling the first stage folds the pouch out to a middle position, exposing the trauma component layer. A second pull releases the tear-away medical platform to its full length — an organized, retained display of all IFAK contents, accessible and re-packable in the field.

The interior uses durable elastic spaced and sized to fit common medical and trauma supplies. Sections align with the TCCC MARCH algorithm categories — Massive Hemorrhage, Airway, Respiratory, Circulation, and Hypothermia — so gear is retrievable by category under stress. The entire platform detaches in either compact or fully expanded form, which means it can be passed to a casualty or a teammate without dismounting the parent carrier.

The shell is genuine 500D Cordura Nylon. Every webbing attachment point receives Bar-Tack reinforcement stitching. The Velcro® patch panel on the exterior face accepts standard 2-inch hook-and-loop morale or ID patches. Two MALICE CLIPS® are included for MOLLE attachment; no additional hardware is required.

IFAKs are standard issue in the DOD and most police departments and are organized around the TCCC MARCH algorithm: Massive Hemorrhage, Airway, Respiratory, Circulation, and Hypothermia.

Does this pouch come with medical supplies?

No — the QD IFAK ships as an empty pouch. It is designed to accept a wide range of common medical and trauma supplies including tourniquets, emergency bandages, trauma shears, compressed gauze, hemostatic agents, chest seals, nitrile gloves, and a marker. Refill bundles are available separately.

Where should I mount this on my kit?

Mount it where both hands can reach it — the 10 and 2 o'clock positions on the cummerbund work well. Keep it clear of your pistol draw line and off the front so you can prone out. An IFAK that only one injured hand can reach is an IFAK that cannot be used when it matters most.

How do I deploy the pouch in an emergency?

The QD IFAK opens in stages. The tourniquet and trauma shears are accessible from the exterior without opening anything. A first pull expands the pouch to middle stage for trauma component access. A second pull releases the full tear-away platform. The entire loaded platform can then detach from the carrier and be passed to another person or used independently.
