Contained is a continuation of my work exploring our relationship with the natural world, as modern humans. 

The impasto paintings draw inspiration from a single environment, which is uniquely interpreted within each piece of work.

These expansive landscapes are confined within the boundaries of a vessel - a form commonly used to present nature in curated, decorative and ephemeral  way. 

The series invites viewers to consider the duality (or tension) in our connection to the natural world: an object of admiration and a living entity requiring our protection.

This oil painting is created on genuine brass and has been deliberately patinated, then sealed with a satin lacquer. It is backed with 25mm FSC certified pine ply, and finished with varnished edges. This design makes traditional framing unnecessary, though a framer can easily add one if preferred. Please note that brass is a soft metal and may feature minor imperfections - you can read more here.
