The Hazard 4 Poncho Villa is a thoroughly modernized take on the classic military poncho, built from 3-ply waterproof-breathable softshell fabric with 4-way stretch (polyester/spandex) and a 10,000 mm waterproof rating. Sized generously at approximately 80" L x 53" W (203 x 135 cm) expanded, it fits over packs, bags, and chest rigs while covering the torso and most of the legs. The Arctic Warfare Edition extends that to 90" L x 53" W (229 x 135 cm) and includes a larger hood designed to fit over helmets and other headgear. All current production runs as MK3 or Arctic Warfare Edition, incorporating lasercut MOLLE on the pocket flap, attachment loops and snaps for a fleece poncho liner, same-color seam tape, and loop patches on the hood rim. Available in Arctic Warfare, Black, Coyote, OD Green, Navy Blue, and Scorpion Black.
The shell fabric is a 3-ply waterproof-breathable softshell with 4-way stretch, rated to 10,000 mm hydrostatic head. The stretch component allows free movement when the poncho is cinched or snapped closed, and the breathable membrane reduces heat buildup during active use. An integrated vent on the storage pocket aids drying. Side snaps close the edges in severe weather, and a front zipper extends to the chin for full rain coverage of the throat. The hood uses dual cinchers — one at the front and one at the back of the head — for a stable fit in wind or while moving.
Large fuzzy loop panels on the front and back accept hook-backed agency ID, patches, or other identification materials. Front loop panel measures approximately 14.6" L x 3" W (37 x 7.5 cm); back loop panel measures approximately 12.6" L x 3" W (32 x 7.5 cm). Additional loop panels on each shoulder measure approximately 5.3" L x 4" W (13.5 x 10 cm), and hood-back loop panels measure approximately 3.4" L x 3" W (8.7 x 7.5 cm). The pocket flap carries lasercut MOLLE webbing for attaching small accessories. Attachment loops and snaps on the interior connect to the optional Hazard 4 Fleece Poncho Liner for cold-weather layering.
Large perimeter grommets allow the poncho to hang as a tent or tarp in the field. A single poncho provides a compact makeshift shelter; two ponchos combine to form a larger footprint. The poncho also functions as a seating or work surface when spread flat. The no-sleeve design keeps arms fully free for equipment manipulation, weapon handling, or pack access — all without removing the poncho or breaking rain coverage over gear.
The original Poncho Villa was updated to MK2 with the addition of attachment loops and snaps for the Fleece Poncho Liner, lasercut MOLLE on the pocket flap loop fastener, and same-color seam tape on the inside. MK3 added loop patches on the rim of the hood. The Arctic Warfare Edition includes everything in MK3, a larger hood for fit over helmets and other headgear, and a longer body at approximately 90" L x 53" W (229 x 135 cm) versus the MK3 standard of 80" L (203 cm).
Remove all accessories before washing. Soak in room-temperature or cold water with a mild detergent and brush off debris with a gentle brush. Hand wash and rinse thoroughly. Air dry only — drying in a dryer will void the warranty. Do not machine wash.
Yes. The standard MK3 expands to 80" L x 53" W, and the cut is intentionally generous to fit over packs, bags, and chest rigs. The Arctic Warfare Edition adds length (90") and a larger hood specifically sized for use over helmets and headgear. You can access pouches and pockets underneath without removing the poncho.
Both share the MK3 feature set: fleece liner attachment loops and snaps, lasercut MOLLE on the pocket flap, same-color interior seam tape, and loop patches on the hood rim. The Arctic Warfare Edition adds a larger hood sized for helmets and other headgear, and a longer body at approximately 90" L versus the MK3's 80" L.
Yes. Large perimeter grommets allow it to hang as a tent or tarp. A single Poncho Villa sets up as a compact solo shelter. Two ponchos combine to create a larger footprint. It also functions as a ground sheet or work surface when spread flat.
Yes, from MK2 onward. Attachment loops and snaps on the interior are designed to couple with the Hazard 4 Fleece Poncho Liner, converting the rain shell into a layered cold-weather system. The liner is sold separately.
The Poncho Villa stuffs into its own front pocket. Folded, it measures approximately 13" L x 11.2" W x 2.2" D (33 x 28.5 x 5.5 cm) and weighs approximately 2.3 lbs. An integrated vent on the pocket aids drying before you pack it away.
Hand wash only. Remove all accessories, soak in room-temperature or cold water with a mild detergent, and brush off debris gently. Rinse thoroughly and air dry. Do not put it in a dryer — dryer use voids the warranty.
