18th century Italian gold leaf fragment on a selenite slab. It is placed onto a selenite slab. Selenite is a transparent mineral that is a form of gypsum. It was used to create the windows of the Santa Sabina Basilica in Rome, Italy during the 5th century, hence the name "Window Pane Selenite." 

The elements create a unique piece of old and new. The precious mineral specimen combined with the Italian fragment creates a historical yet contemporary work of art. Rococo meets organic modern.
