The Royal Ballet presents a cutting-edge contemporary dance trilogy, each unique in its own way, on film! Christopher Wheeldon, a popular choreographer with a pop sensibility, has boldly renewed "Within the Golden Hour," first presented in 2008, for the Royal Ballet. The Royal Ballet's star dancers, including Beatrice Stix-Brunel, Francesca Hayward, Sarah Lamb, and Vadim Muntagirov, will dance to the music of Vivaldi and other composers in costumes studded with golden strips inspired by Klimt's paintings. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who has been presenting exciting works inspired by encounters and dialogues between different cultures, was invited to create "Medusa" for the first time by the Royal Ballet. Deeply inspired by the Greek myth of Medusa, Natalia Osipova, the famous flower of the Royal Ballet, portrays a woman at the mercy of an absurd fate, rich in emotion. The presence of Poseidon as a symbol of the male-rights oppressor, played by Ryoichi Hirano, is overwhelming.The music is a unique composition in which Purcell's music evokes the world of archaic mythology and is counterpointed by the dreamlike effects of electronic music. Flight Pattern" by choreographer Crystal Pite has attracted worldwide attention for its thematic setting that sincerely addresses various issues in contemporary society. In this production, the theme of refugee issues is taken up, and against the background of Gretzky's "Symphony of Lamentations," a group dance by 36 young dancers from the Royal Ballet depicts the social contradictions of our time and their tragedies.
