Description:
Music for cornet of the 19th century performed by an authority on the baroque trumpet! Music for 19th century masterpieces played by an authority on baroque trumpet on the Boosey&Hawkes Souvereign 920 medium bore cornet! The piano is a rare 1846 Erard, said to have been played by Sigismont Thalberg, one of the most famous masters of the 19th century! The cornet, now mainly used as a flourish in brass bands, was developed around 1828 with the development of valves for brass instruments, and became popular for its warm tone and wide expressive power with fine passages. In this album, an authority on the baroque trumpet performs brilliantly in a variety of styles of music composed in the 19th century. A multi-talented composer, singer, and trumpet player, Frank Anepol has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras and ensembles, and has written many world premieres. He has taught baroque trumpet at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and for this album he uses a cornet made by Boosey & Hawkes, a long-established British instrument maker.Accompanist Vaughn Schlepp is a master musician who has given numerous recitals and master classes around the world and participated in the recording of the complete Bach cantatas by Peter Jan Ruysink & the Netherlands Bach Collegium, released in 2001. It is also noteworthy that on this album, he plays a rare 1846 Erard, which is said to have been played by Sigismond Thalberg, one of the most famous virtuosos of the 19th century! Tokyo M-Plus
