Description:
Stradivarius was also involved in the production of violas with a unique and beautiful sound, using the precious Stradivari viola "Gibson," but there are very few of these in existence, with only 12 remaining in the world. The "Gibson" viola played here is believed to be the last viola he produced at around the age of 90. The similarity to the "Tuscan" of 1690, made about 45 years earlier, suggests that Stradivarius held this type in high regard. The nickname comes from the famous player George Alfred Gibson (1849-1924). Lech Antonio Uzinski, viola player of the Stradivari Quartet, a string quartet based in Zurich, was supported by the Habisleutinger Stradivarius Foundation, which has the most famous Stradivarius collection in the world, and loaned by the foundation. This "Gibson" will be used to bring out the beauty of the instrument's unique sound and richness of color in a selection of music that will allow you to hear the brilliance of this special instrument here. The instrument was on display at the Tokyo Stradivarius Festival (Stradivarius 300th Anniversary Exhibition) in October 2018 and was played by Warner Classics viola player David Aaron Carpenter.
