Telemann (1681-1767)
Description:
Telemann in French style! A lively performance! Don Quixote's Burlesque! The late Baroque German master Telemann presents an exciting program featuring "Burlesque of Don Quixote," inspired by the heroic satire in the writings of Miguel de Cervantes! Telemann beautifully expresses the characteristics and idiosyncrasies of the characters in Cervantes' work. Along with Polish folk music, the works on this program show the influence of French music, which cannot be overlooked when discussing Telemann. The elegant melodies, themes, and outstanding ideas shine through in these works. The Toulouse Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1953 by Louis Auriacomb, a disciple of Markevich, and in 2004, Gilles Colliard, who studied with Jean-Pierre Varèse and Tibor Varga, was appointed music director. Since Gilles Colliard took over as musical director in 2004, the orchestra has been attracting attention by adopting a period approach and using both modern and period styles in its activities.
