Description:
The master Bianconi depicts Debussy's piano music at its finest! The virtuoso Philippe Bianconi recorded the two volumes of Debussy's "Preludes" in 2012, and now he has recorded the "Exercises," the ultimate in Debussy's piano music. In the "Practices," Debussy boldly experiments with rhythm, resonance, form, and structure. It was both Debussy's achievement and a move that opened the door to the future. Debussy never turned his back on his own musical progress, thereby continuing to enrich his own style and at the same time opening new doors, the culmination of which is the tremendous radicalism pursued in the "Exercises". The coupling includes "The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian," arranged by André Capré, the introspective, pensive "Elegy," and "The Evening of Burning Coals," after a line from Baudelaire's poem ("Balcony"). This is a performance of the utmost intensity that only Bianconi, who has recorded Debussy's works that marked the beginning of his mature period ("Prints," "Images," etc.) and the complete "Preludes," could have brought to life.
