Description:
Salvatore Vigano was a ballet dancer and choreographer active in Italy during the 18th and early 19th centuries. His father, Honorato, was a choreographer, and his mother, Maria (sister of composer Boccherini), was an excellent ballet dancer. He choreographed the ballet and performed as a dancer himself. Unfortunately, the script has not survived, but it is said to have been well received as a "comprehensive work of art" that vividly depicted the Greek myth of Prometheus. The finale melody was later adapted for the last movement of the "Symphony of Heroes," and "Prometheus' Creation" became a powerful work in Beethoven's early and middle period. This album contains the piano version by Beethoven himself. This album contains Beethoven's own piano version, which has a different flavor from the orchestral version. Naxos Japan
