Description:
FM broadcast recording of a concert at a traditional hall, a cultural center of Pittsburgh, during the tour that accompanied the release of "In the Pocket" (1976), the last album of the Warner era! JT plays the first half of the concert, while the second half is backed by a special band unique to that year, which includes the usual members such as Danny Kochmar, Lee Sklar, and Russ Kankel, plus David Sanborn. In addition, David Lindley, who participated briefly in the recording of "In the Pocket," joins JT's live performance, which is a rare and very valuable sound source. Of course, JT's performance is very consistent and truly listenable, and the sound quality is perfect among JT's live recordings from the 1970s, making this a historical recording that fans should definitely keep. The Syrian Mosque, built in 1916 until its demolition in 1991, is a historic Islamic building that hosted a variety of events, from concerts to lectures to political rallies. This is a special concert befitting such a place. Clarence McDonald from The Section will play keyboards in place of Craig Dargi. The participation of David Lindley on fiddle and slide is a prelude to the recording tour for Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty" (1977) with The Section and Lindley the following year. This tour was also the first time that David Lasley and Arnold McCullers, who would later serve as JT's chorus for a long time, joined the band, although they are not listed in the credits. The soft reverberation sound is unique to this hall. When "Shower The People," the latest hit at the time, was played, the audience was filled with warm applause. This is a rare recording that really conveys JT's musicality.
