Sandro Perri
Description:
Toronto indie scene darling Sandro Pelli returns with his first solo album in seven years, a follow-up to his 2011 Pitchfork Top 50 album, and a follow-up to the work of a man who has admired Arthur Russell and Milton Nascimento. Seven years after his last album, "Impossible Spaces", which was highly praised by various media, Toronto's treasure Sandro Perri is back. Described by Perri as "an experiment in songwriting that never ends," the album begins with a 24-minute space odyssey of minimalist synths, light and ethereal guitars, and distinctive vocals that signal the beginning of a story. The listener is suddenly drawn into his pace, and by the second track, the listener is drawn to the beautiful piano, minute synths, and his voice. The second song is a "contemplative minimal pop song," featuring vocals by Dan Bejar of Destroyer and Andre Ethier of The Deadly Snakes, respectively. Dan Bejar of Destroyer and Andre Ethier of The Deadly Snakes each contribute one vocal track. They show their producer talent to highlight their vocals, including the arrangements. The production process is very laid-back, as if they have just driven on a measured road instead of taking the highway. Perhaps the flow of time is different from the rest of the world.
