One thing about outdoor gear is the innovation and clever and sometimes bonkers challenges R&D folks toruture themselves with. One of the more ingenious introductions the winter outdoor industry has seen in a season or two is the Harfang.

The Harfang is the lightest (377g/pair) and the most compact crampon on the market, designed for ski touring and classic mountaineering. With a chromoly steel front rail, aluminum secondary and rear rails, they offer an excellent balance between performance, weight, and extreme packability. Even better, one size fits all.

Blue Ice's patented concept is based on a central textile strap that connects the front and back rails and allow it to mount in the most suitable position based on the application or the geometry of the boots. Using a flexible strap linking system minimizes bulk and provides shocking compactness, all while offering remarkable precision and comfort. The heel pivot is equipped with a micro-adjustment dial to fine tune the crampon on your boot.

An automatic crampon, the Harfang adapts to all ski touring boots with a toe welt, as well as mountaineering boots with rigid soles and toe welts. Each pair comes with ABS plates to eliminate snow balling, along with a storage bag that can be attached to your harness or pack. Each crampon packs down to about the size of a plum, so when you stash them inside the pack they wont be gobbling up precious space.
