American composer David Lang has created a series of unique works. This "love fail" was composed in 2012 for the vocal quartet "Anonymous 4" based on the folk tale "Tristan and Isolde," and tells a timeless love story by balancing a text from the 12th century with a contemporary poem. The version on this album was arranged for the Lorelei Ensemble, a female vocal group active in Boston, and the expanded sound for chorus has a mysterious quality, rounded corners, and perfectly pleasant to the listener's ears.
