Cooking Methods:

1. Ube Halaya (Purple Yam Jam):

   • Ingredients: Purple yam, coconut milk, evaporated milk, condensed milk, butter, and sugar.
   • Method: Boil and mash the purple yam until smooth. Combine the mashed yam in a pan with coconut milk, evaporated milk, condensed milk, butter, and sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and smooths. This can take about 30-45 minutes. Serve as a dessert or use as a filling for pastries.

Storage Tips:

• Refrigeration: If you plan to use fresh purple yam within a few days, store it in the refrigerator. Keep it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
• Freezing: Peel and slice the purple yam for longer storage, then freeze it. Place it in a freezer-safe bag, removing as much air as possible before sealing. It can be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
