Description:
This is Danish guitarist Jakob Bro's fifth album as leader of ECM. This is the first work by the trio, which includes Norwegian trumpeter Arve Enriksen and Spanish drummer Jorge Rossy, who perform together for the first time on this album. The highlight of the album is the opening "Reconstructing a Dream," a "dark, lyrical reverie" that, according to the London Jazz News, "underscores Bro's observations on his work" that "there is great depth to this music. Other pieces include "To Stanko," a tribute to the late Thomas Stanko, whom Bro respected and admired, and "Music for Black Pigeons," named by saxophone saint Lee Konitz, who was a friend of Bro, also a tribute to the deceased.Arve. Henriksen's whispery, intimate sound is familiar from his 2008 ECM album "Cartography" and his collaborations with Trio Mediaval and Tigran Hamasyan.Rossy is well known to jazz fans on both sides of the Atlantic, especially for his decade-plus tenure with the first trio that launched Brad Mehldau's career. This is a new ECM release that has been a big hit with the Readers. [Personnel] Jakob Bro(g)Arve Henriksen(tp,piccolo tp)Jorge Rossy(ds)
