The Hungarian pianist who studied with Bartók has finally been restored on CD! The Hungarian-born master pianist Vášahelyi recorded this album in Japan in 1978 and released it as an independent LP in 1986, and now it is available for the first time on CD! Vacherhely has been teaching Bartók's works directly from his teacher. The booklet includes Vachery's own memories of Bartók and commentary by Kuniharu Akiyama. The booklet also includes Vachaheli's own memories of Bartók and a commentary by Kuniharu Akiyama, as well as a valuable record of the works written by Aki Takahashi, one of Vachaheli's students who was instrumental in the recording. Akimichi Takeda, who praised Bartók's performance in "Record-Geijutsu" magazine, said, "There are not many pianists who can give such a human Bartók performance. Georg Vasahelyi (piano)Georg Vasahelyi was born in Arad, Hungary (now Romania) in 1912. He studied piano with Bartók at the Budapest Conservatory and later with Eotvín Fischer in Berlin.In 1935, he was awarded the Mendelssohn Prize. In addition to his activities as a soloist, he formed a duo with Emil Termani, a renowned violinist also from Hungary, and gave concerts throughout Europe for many years. In 1936, Vášahelyi moved to Denmark, where Termaní lived, for the purpose of performing with Termaní. He was also a professor of piano at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Aarhus Conservatory of Music for many years. He first came to Japan in 1967 and was a visiting professor at Musashino Academia Musicae and Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music until 1970. He continued to come to Japan regularly at the invitation of the Musashino Academia Musicae, where he taught for many years. Camerata Tokyo
