Melange of cherry, cranberry and red currants; lifted and pure. Deeply fruited with an all spice and Campari complexity.Deeply fruited mid palate with raspberry, cranberry, red cherry and complex notes of dark chocolate, complemented with fine cocoa tannins.The 2021 Barossa Grenache is made in a ‘joven’ style – released young and without any oak maturation. The Grenache was vinified through the historic 1888 Gravity Cellar – which is highly regarded for its small batch format and gentle maceration. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, gravity guides the flow of fruit down through the winery to deliver gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. Producer

Founded in the Barossa Valley by Joseph and Johanna Seppelt a mere 15 years after the European settlement of South Australia. In 1850, 158 acres of land was bought by Joseph at £1 peer acre, naming it Seppeltsfield. The intention was to farm tobacco but later generations focused on wine!

It became a corporate entity in 1985, where the company expanded, but in 2007 it was bought by Warren Randall who worked for the Seppelt family in the 1980s. They are best known for their fabulous fortified wines and remains the only company in the world to release a 100 year old, single vintage wine each year! They also still have a Seppelt in the company, with Charlie Seppelt in the role of senior winemaker.
