Robin McKell was born in 1976 in New York State and has performed with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Bobby McFarlin. She studied jazz at the University of Miami and Berklee College of Music. In 2004, she won third place in the Thelonious Monk Vocal Jazz Competition, a gateway to success for young jazz artists. His debut album, 2006's Introducing Robin McKelle, reached #6 on the Billboard charts. Since then, he has demonstrated his versatility by shifting from standard jazz to soul jazz. This album is structured as a return to Robin McKelle's musical roots.As the title implies, the roots of the album, especially the influence of jazz singing legend "Ella Fitzgerald," are scattered throughout the album. In order to realize this concept, McKell has formed a new trio of renowned jazz musicians, Kenny Washington (dr.), Peter Washington (bs), and Kenny Barron (p), to create an even more energetic and exciting Ella Fitzgerald world. The new trio is made up of renowned jazz musicians, including Ella Fitzgerald. Kurt Elling also guests on "I Won't Dance. The album features 12 timeless standards from the swing era, including "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Night and Day," and "On the Sunny Side of the Street.
