Description:
Celia Nergår is one of Norway's leading jazz and pop singers. Her debut album "Tell me where you'regoing," produced by Pat Metheny and released in 1990, was a huge hit in Japan and other countries. Since then, she has been active as one of the leading singers in the Scandinavian jazz-pop scene, with her 2010 release "A Thousand True Stories" nominated for a Grammy Award. In this album, she takes an electric approach to the sound, but keeps the simplicity and warmth of her worldview intact, bringing listeners a more intimate look at the world today and her own story. The title track "For You a Thousand Times" was created while looking at people torn apart by wartime. On the other hand, "Hush Little Bird" reveals her motherly side, sampling the voice of her Ethiopian-born adopted son, and "Cocco Bello" samples the voice of a coconut vendor she met on vacation in southern Italy, gently depicting everyday happiness. The various worlds that come and go are beautifully reflected in the chic European sound.
