The long-awaited debut of a great talent who opens up new horizons in Russian music. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yoshio Hamano won the first prize at the 2011 Japan Music Competition, as well as many other competitions including the Malmö Nordic Piano Competition and the Almaty International Piano Competition. He has performed with orchestras and given recitals in prestigious halls overseas. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, Hamano studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Moscow Conservatory, and Leipzig, where he studied with Vilsalase and Elena Ashkenazy. While listeners tend to be drawn to difficult pieces in this repertoire, Hamano's pianism reveals the light and shadows that lie deep within, based on a "narrative that conveys all that is in the heart" (Yoshio Hamano).
