Fritz Wunderlich
Description:
This is the sixth in the SWR recording series of Fritz Wunderlich (1930-1966), one of the leading German tenors of the 20th century. This album focuses on a collection of arias by composers who were active in the same era as Mozart but have been largely forgotten today. The melody of Paisiello's "Depressed Heart" is occasionally performed in recitals of classical Italian songs, but we rarely hear the other pieces. These songs have been revived with Wunderlich's light and expressive singing. Bonus tracks include two arias by A. Scarlatti and Handel. Digitally remastered from the original tapes in the SWR collection. Naxos Japan
