Dirty Hit-affiliated singer/songwriter The Japanese House releases first album in four years! The Japanese House, a project by London-based female singer-songwriter Amber Bain, is releasing her first new album in four years on the indie label, which includes The 1975, Lina Sawayama, Beba Doobie, Pale Waves, and more, The Japanese House, part of Dirty Hit, began releasing music in 2015 and released their debut album, Good At Falling, in 2019 to critical acclaim. In "Boyhood," the first single from the new album, Amber Bain's voice floats over an electronic beat and gentle guitar picking. An ode to the complexities of gender and sexuality, "Boyhood" sings of how trauma is an inescapable part of who we are.About "Boyhood," the lead single from the album, Amber says, "When my best friend Katie and I were still young and in love, we dreamed of riding her horse and traveling far away from all the problems that come from being gay and in love. This song is about how sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can't avoid being a product of what happened to you early in life and what held you back. But it is also, and more importantly, a song about hope for overcoming those things. And look at us now. We're not escaping, we're facing something," she commented. The new album expresses Amber's vulnerability and inner feelings as they are, and sublimates them into gorgeous pop music.
