94 East Feat.Prince,Prince
Description:
This compilation features material from 94 East, the band Prince was a part of before his debut. Prince, who was attending high school at the time, met Andre Simon and Maurice Day and formed Grand Central, a funk band influenced by Sly & the Family Stone and EW&F. He was also in the process of laying the foundation for what would later become known as the Minneapolis sound when Pepe Willie, a Brooklyn native who was engaged to his cousin, asked him to join his band, 94 East, and it was here that he began his session work on guitar, bass, and keyboards. In the session work with Pepe Willie, he developed his talent as a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, harmony and backing choruses, and at the same time, he learned studio work and arranging/producing know-how. Prince is a rare document of the early days of Prince's genius. Although he did not sing lead vocals, the budding Prince sound can be felt at every corner. 13 songs in total. Includes a bilingual translation of the detailed English commentary.
