The musician, poet and writer Gil Scott-Heron, also known as the legendary 'Black Bard' and revered by Eminem and Snoop Dogg, who died suddenly in 2011 at the age of 62, released his last studio album "I'm New Here" in a limited 2CD expanded edition to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its release. Recorded and produced by Richard Russel, founder of XL Recordings, in New York City in January 2008, I'm New Here is Gil Scott-Heron's first album in 13 years, and has been described as an important work that pushes the envelope and gets to the heart of the matter like never before. It is heralded as an important album that pushes the boundaries and explores the essence of the music as never before.This limited Expanded Edition includes the original album, plus an unreleased cover of "Handsome Johnny" by Richie Havens and an unreleased Gil Scott-Heron song "King Henry IV" on Disc 2. Also included are a number of rare recordings made during the recording sessions for "I'm New Here," which were only available on the deluxe LP upon original release.
