This is the first release of the "Sony Classical Masterpieces Collection 1000". This historical recording was made in 1967 in the presence of the composer Messiaen. Seiji Ozawa reproduced Messiaen's unique, colorful sound, overwhelmingly rich undulations, and dramatic developments with great fervor and charm. The performance by the soloists of the first performance members, Messiaen's wife Lorio and her sister, also shines in this disc.
