About Katliax

Katliax is a handcrafted artisan brand. The name "Katliax" is derived from the Miao language. The pronunciation \kali:a\ is a transliteration of the Miao word meaning magpie.

With the design concept of "wearing is inheritance", "Katliax" starts from traditional culture and ethnic languages, studies the feasibility of local clothing design, practices the design concept of "making the most of things and cherishing and recreating things", recycles leftover fabrics in the production process, explores the value of leftover materials, and explores sustainable design methods.

The design is inspired by Qing Dynasty children's vests, featuring a classic double-breasted jacket that retains the comfort of a short boxy shape and top and bottom slits. The double-eared pipa-shaped buttons on the front are lightweight and decorative. The fabric is a combination of antique mulberry silk satin and Xiangyun yarn, with the patchwork inspired by the Yi people's solemn headdress. The patchwork pattern is arranged in a staggered, windmill-like pattern, with each group consisting of eight triangular pieces hand-stitched together. In the Yi people, triangles symbolize dragon scales, taking inspiration from the Yi people's patchwork style. Combined with a practical jacket design, it expresses the continuation of ethnic traditions, respect for the slow and meticulous craftsmanship, and the value of reusing materials.
