Mt. Blue Sky (formerly Mt. Evans) is the newly proposed name by the Colorado State Legislature/Naming Board to honor the Cheyenne Arapahoe Tribes of the region. And just because there’s a paved road to the top doesn’t mean you should take it! Hikers often see mountain goats during the climb up Mt. Blue Sky (elevation 14,264 ft) which is the closest 14er to Denver. This Front Range mountain can be seen from more than 100 miles to the east, is a prominent feature in Denver’s mountainous backdrop and a permanent reminder of why we live here.
