Matthews Southern Comfort
Description:
The latest release from Matthews Southern Comfort, led by Ian Matthews, who made a big hit with his cover of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" in 1970, is called "The Utstock Album"! However, the album does not include the title track, but is based on the concept of reinterpreting and playing classic songs by the legends who performed at that legendary festival (Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead, CCR, CSN&Y, etc.). Enjoy the superb vocals by the legend who recently visited Japan. Ian Matthews, a singer/songwriter born in England in 1946, formed Pyramid in 1966 and made his debut in 1967 with "Summer of Last Year. After releasing his first album "Fairport Convention" in 1968 and his second album "What We Did on Our Holidays" in 1969, he left the band while recording his next album due to a difference in direction. He immediately formed his own band, Matthews' Southern Comfort, which released "Matthews' Southern Comfort" in 1969, and released a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" in 1970, which became a worldwide hit, reaching No. 1 in the U.K. In 1971, he went solo and released "If You Saw Thro' My Eyes". In 1971, he released "If You Saw Thro' My Eyes" as a solo artist, and in 1972, he formed Plainsong with Andy Roberts and others and released "In Search Of Amelia Earhart". Since 2000, he has been based in the Netherlands and has performed at events and festivals around the world.
