"Half eternities are extremely versatile and attractive rings. An alternative to the full eternity, where the diamonds go all the way around the finger, half eternities only go halfway around. The advantage here is that, yes, they are less expensive because they use fewer diamonds, but more importantly, unlike full eternities, they can actually be resized. This particular half eternity is a mid-century example from France, with chunky claw settings giving each of the round brilliant-cut diamonds a square outline. Typical of French jewellery manufacture of this era, the quality is superb, the reverse revealing a sequence of hand-cut apertures accommodating the diamonds. A beautiful example of a classic ring design, wearable on its own, or in just about any combination."
