An excellent examination of revivals from the theological, historical and practical standpoints." Dr. Edward Norris Kirk (1802-1874), educated at Princeton Seminary under Archibald Alexander, pastor of Presbyterian & Congregational churches, active in revivals with Charles Finney and those of the more conservative Presbyterian school [Nettleton, etc.]. He also established a training school for evangelists with Dr. Nathan S. S. Beman of Troy, NY. He served for some thirty years as pastor of the Mount Vernon Congregational Church, and it was under his preaching that the evangelist Dwight L. Moody was converted.

Fascinating work on revivals by one who was quite young and active during the height of the revivals in early 1830's.
