A rare George Halstead bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4.5 line. Used but original condition with some varnish bag adhesion and a cosmetic casting crack at the ferrule wraps. The grip is also well soiled. Moderate wear to the inner part of the guides. Weighs 3.5 ounces on my scale. The action is quick but it flexes well down into the middle of the butt section, a pleasing action that would work well for a fast #4 or a more moderate #5 line. I haven't seen many rods that dampen as well as this one. Flamed cane with a two opposed pattern pattern and a #8 perfection stripper with high arch snakes on the rest of the rod. The main wraps are light brown with a band of red at the keeper, ferrules, and tip tops. The step ferrules are oxidized and fit well. The rod is nice and straight. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a medium Payne style cigar. The seat is an aluminum downlocking screwlock with a nickel silver pocket cap mounted on an aluminum base. That base has a minute crack that does not affect the function of the band. The varnished spacer is Spanish cedar. The rod bag is brown and the rod tube is aluminum with brass fittings and gray felt in the cap. The tube may have had a data sticker on it at one point but it is long since gone.
