The Air Force 1, designed by Bruce Kilgore, is to this day Nike's best selling shoe with approximately 10 million pairs sold worldwide every year. It was originally introduced in 1982 and discontinued two years later in 1984. Since then the silhouette has seen hundreds, if not thousands, of different colourways and variations. In 2020 Stüssy gave the Air Force 1 the hemp treatment, something they seemed to do a lot. They released in black and a natural hemp colourway. Stüssy also collaborated on LA based dye house Lookout & Wonderland, releasing some super limited naturally dyed pairs. Stüssy's run of Nike collabs in the past 4 years has been nothing short of legendary. In a world of constant releases and collaborations, their choice of silhouette and application of colour and material has really stood out. It's a period which will go down in history for sure.
