The MB02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece; however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™.
Notes: The full cheek with hooks is a traditional cheek style designed to be used with bit keepers (sold separately) to hold the bit in the correct position. The posts also prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth while applying cheek pressure. When used without bit keepers, the bit will sit in the mouth similarly to a Dee or Eggbutt without hooks.
The ring has fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (“hooks”) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. No attachment for curb chain or strap. Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather. The hooks make this a much more versatile bit than one without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit.
