Solidsteel SS6

The Solidsteel SS6 is a dedicated monitor speaker stand, engineered to solve three specific problems: correct positioning height, structural rigidity for lighter speakers, and proper decoupling between speaker and stand. It sits within Solidsteel's SS Series, designed specifically for bookshelf and monitor loudspeakers.

Three-Leg Chassis

The SS6 uses a three-point tubular steel chassis rather than a four-leg design. Three legs provide an inherently stable, rattle-free base on any floor — there is no rocking caused by an uneven fourth contact point. The tubular supports are finished with an anti-resonant coating to reduce the structure's own contribution to the sound.

Decoupling with Ball Bearings

Between the chassis and the top plate sit three high-precision ball bearings. These isolate the speaker from vibrations travelling up through the floor and stand structure, preventing those vibrations from colouring the speaker's output. The effect is a cleaner, more focused presentation — particularly noticeable in the bass and lower midrange.

Fillable Tubes

The stainless steel spikes at the base of each tube are removable, allowing the hollow tubes to be filled with damping material — sand or lead shot are the most common choices. Adding mass and damping material significantly increases the stand's resistance to vibration and improves low-level stability.

Interchangeable Top Plate

The top plate is MDF and interchangeable, meaning it can be swapped to better match the footprint of the speaker being used. Each stand is supplied with Pata-fix to secure the speaker to the top plate — important for preventing any micro-movement that would otherwise compromise imaging precision.
