This necklace is large and gaudy. The gold plated rope chain is 24". The large pendant is 2. 75 x 1. 75 inches. The pendant consists of a large translucent reddish orange marbled agate stone set in a 5/8 inch high, antiqued gold open work scrolled filigree setting.

This large metal necklace is circa 1970 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
