This dress is named Mary.
Made of heavy cream colored silk, this sumptuous wedding gown is original from the early 1940s. Warn only once in 1941, this dress is in near perfect condition. lined up the back with thirty five silk covered buttons, decorated with delicate lace details, and lined down the front with three sweet bows, this dress is elegant and understated. With a long train, pointed cuffs, and stylized puff sleeves at the shoulders.
• 24 inch waist
• 26 inch sleeves
• 17 and 1/2 inch back (from top of buttons to bottom of buttons)
• 31 inch chest (across bust)
• 51 inch skirt (waist to bottom of skirt)
• 74 inch train (waist to bottom of train)
Likely a XS, or a size 2 US.
Train comes with built in silk cord for holding/ hanging purposes.
This dress was custom made in 1941.
In near perfect shape. Some slight discoloration on several of the silk buttons, and a couple of spots of slightly darker cream color on the back, but this coloration is innocuous and nearly impossible to see unless upon extreme close inspection.
Dress comes with built in arm pit guards to prevent arm pit staining!
Model noted the dress was cool to the touch, and heavier than most silks one would wear today.
