Most "sustainable" polos are slightly off — heavier than they should be, with stiff collars and crooked placket buttons that betray the price.

PERRY is what happens when you ask a Fair Wear factory in Bangladesh to make the polo properly, instead of cutting corners to hit a fast-fashion margin.

• Single-needle topstitching means the shoulder seam doesn't pucker after washing
• Heavy single jersey neck tape means the collar holds its shape after years of wear
• A flat-knit ribbed collar (not a knitted-on collar band) sits flat without rolling

These are details you won't see in product photography. You'll only notice them three years from now, when the polo still looks like a polo and not a sad rectangle.

The fit

PERRY is cut as a relaxed unisex medium fit. Worn on a women's frame, it reads as intentionally oversized — sitting clean at the shoulder, falling softly through the body and hip.

Model wears: Size S. She is 178cm tall.

Size guidance: Wear your usual size for the relaxed unisex fit you see on the model. Size down for a closer fit, size up for a true oversized look.

Why heavyweight organic cotton matters

240gsm piqué is the right weight for a polo that lasts.

Lighter polos (180-200gsm) feel cheap, become sheer after a few washes, lose their shape at the shoulder. Heavier polos (260-300gsm) wear like a jumper — too warm for summer, too structured to layer.

240gsm sits in the right register — substantial in the hand, comfortable on the body, durable across seasons. The polo you can wear in March and December, layered or alone.

Ring-spun combed cotton removes the short fibres before spinning, leaving only the longest strongest fibres in the yarn. The result is smoother to the touch, less prone to pilling, and significantly more durable than standard cotton.

This is the cotton your grandmother's polos were made of, before the fast fashion shortcuts.

Why is this a pre-sale?

PERRY is part of our small-batch Episode model — we produce only what's pre-ordered, with a small buffer for size exchanges. No overstock, no markdowns, no waste. Pre-sale guarantees your piece in your size.

Is the polo really unisex?

Yes. PERRY is cut unisex, sized XXS to 3XL. The polo on the model is a size S, worn loose on a women's frame for the intentionally oversized look. For a closer fit, size down. For a true oversized look, size up.

How is this different from a $40 polo at Country Road?

Lower-weight cotton, faster construction, non-organic fibres, no living-wage commitment, no traceability. PERRY is heavyweight 240gsm certified-organic piqué, made in a Fair Wear factory by paid hands, with embroidered (not printed) detailing. The price reflects the standard.

What's the embroidery thread made of?

Cotton — the same certified-organic ring-spun cotton as the polo itself. We don't use polyester or rayon embroidery thread because they break down at a different rate to the fabric and pull away from the polo over time.

Will the natural colour yellow over time?

Natural undyed cotton may develop subtle warmth with age — most people find this beautiful rather than problematic, the way good linen develops character. It will not yellow significantly if washed correctly and stored away from direct sunlight.

Is PERRY the start of a new product range for OD?

PERRY is the first of our elevated essentials — pieces designed for the working week, the longer dinner, the more considered moments. We'll be expanding this register slowly across 2026.
