The inner core of the strap does have some latex. The core however, is made of a vulcanized rubber with a high silicone content. Chance of latex reaction is considered the same as if exposed to an automobile tire. Core is completely wrapped in a protective polyester sheath, which acts to shield the inner core from direct contact with the skin. 

The R.A.T.S. Tourniquet should be kept in the plastic packaging until use. The device should be properly disposed of after use. Inspection of the device should take place before use. Inspection should consist of looking for any fraying of the sheath, cracks in the metal cleat, or any other deformities of the device that could compromise the tourniquet. If any of these conditions exist, do not use and promptly replace the tourniquet. 

When properly applied, the R.A.T.S. Tourniquet is a safe
