A most stunning cased model of a maritime legend, one that commentators at the time referred to as ‘a sight to behold’, the steam auxiliary schooner yacht ‘Atlantic’, winner of the Kaisers Cup Transatlantic Race in 1905. The schooner yacht Atlantic, designed by William Gardner and launched in 1903, achieved fame by winning the 1905 Kaiser’s Cup Transatlantic Race. Skippered by Charlie Barr, she completed the 3,000-nautical-mile course from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to The Lizard, Cornwall, in 12 days, 4 hours, 1 minute, and 19 seconds—a monohull record that stood for nearly a century. Commissioned by New York millionaire Wilson Marshall, Atlantic combined luxury with performance, featuring steam-powered winches and elegant interiors. Her victory in the “last great race of princes” cemented her legacy in maritime history.
