I'm always looking for old stone fruit examples of fruits sliced in half, showing the interior flesh and seeds (pears seem to be the most often seen), but they're precious and usually way beyond me. This lemon has certainly seen some tossing around in the proverbial bowl, but I was very happy to find it, and the carving of believable citrus skin in marble always amazes me! Great (and very believable) form to the exterior here, with original wooden stem, such that it is very good set cut side down too. The sliced side "flesh" is a lemony-lime yellow-green, divided into eight segments, with incised seeds.
2" d x 1 15/16" t. Wear as evident, with a few dark scuffs here and there to the exterior and scattered tiny dings to the marble showing white.
