Wakatsuru Saburomaru Distillery Guilty Gear 25th Anniversary Blended Whisky (2024) 70cl

A blended release from Wakatsuru Saburomaru, this release was bottled to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Guilty Gear. This blended whisky marries together malt whisky from the Saburomaru distillery with grain whisky from Scotland and has been matured for an undisclosed period of time in oak casks. There were just 7,500 bottles produced at a strength of 46% abv. The main style of this is bourbon & grain whisky.

Tasting Notes

It has a tropical fruity taste with a bit of spice. Notes of vanilla, caramel, cocoa, and raisin will start to appear as you continue drinking it. It has a strong flavour reminiscent of jam, dried figs, and smoke

About Wakatsuru Saburomaru

Wakatsuru Saburomaru is a historic Japanese whisky distillery in Toyama Prefecture, established in 1952 by Wakatsuru Shuzo, a sake brewery founded in 1862. The distillery is known for its resilience, having survived a major fire in the 1950s and a market downturn to re-emerge with a focus on producing high-quality, peated single malts, including the world's first cast pot still, called the Zemon, in collaboration with local artisans.
