The 2022 Orin Swift Machete is a bold and intense red blend, primarily composed of Petite Sirah, with Syrah and Grenache playing supporting roles. It is known for its deep, inky garnet core and a vibrant neon violet rim.

This vintage offers an aromatic profile that is both powerful and complex, with notes of bright black plum, slate, and cacao, along with hints of wild sage and crushed gravel. On the palate, it delivers a brawny presence of blackberry pie and ripe blue fruits, which are tempered by subtle hints of orange peel and Amarena cherry. The wine is characterized by the chewy tannins typical of Petite Sirah, which soften over time and lead to a lengthy finish with a touch of sweet oak.

The 2022 Machete was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 36% of those being new. The label, in a tradition for the Machete series, features one of 12 different labels, adding a unique artistic element to each bottle. This wine has a high alcohol content, often around 15.2% to 15.7% ABV, and is full-bodied and ripe, yet it maintains a surprising tartness and a bright, mouthwatering finish.
