Feel the icy conditions during the severe winter of 1939-1940 in the Netherlands. The PH-ASM or 'Mees' was a Douglas DC-3 operated by KLM.
In September 1939 the ‘Mees’ en route from Copenhagen to Schiphol came under fire by a German patrol. Captain Jan Moll managed to get away by flying through the clouds and landed at Schiphol. Unfortunately, one passenger was killed. The KLM decided to paint the fleet in bright orange with HOLLAND written on it.
The hardest part of painting is the different shades of light as you can see on this almost shining airplane. Real masterwork by Thijs Postma.
