This vintage hat by Sonni San Fransisco exudes class. It is made from finely woven straw in neutral, but contrasting shades of ivory (almost white) and taupe. It has a wide, dramatic bow inside of it's deep brim that turns upwards all the way around, designed to expose and compliment the wearer's face. It has it's original labels inside which read, "Sonni San Fransisco". It comes in int's original box and was likely never worn (the bows are even still stuffed with tissue paper) - mint condition!

This hat silhouette hails from the early 19th century but had a revival of popularity starting in the 1960s, with high-profile wearers helping to make it fashionable. British model Jean Shrimpton caused a scandal at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in Australia in 1965 by attending Derby Day hatless, bare legged and in a short summer frock, she returned three days later to the Melbourne Cup in a tailored suit with a large ice-blue Breton created by local milliner Adele Chapeaux of South Yarra. And in 1968, a neat straw version was worn right on the back of the head by Mia Farrow in the horror film Rosemary's Baby. Such was the hat's popularity that The Times fashion editor Prudence Glynn singled it out in 1966 as part of the British 'uniform' at official summer events
