Will this mount without drilling into my frame?

Yes. This bar uses the factory attachment points on your JL — no drilling, welding, or frame modification needed. Bolts straight on with hand tools.

Can I paint over the black finish, or does it need prep?

The powder coat provides a solid base. If you want a different color, light sanding and standard automotive primer and paint will adhere fine. No stripping required.

What happens if I hit something hard — will the bar bend?

3-inch steel tube is designed to absorb and deflect impacts from brush, rocks, and minor collisions. Heavy frontal crashes will still transfer energy to the frame — it's not a full crash bar. For trail use, it protects trim and the grille.
